BROOKGREEN GARDENS - THE BEST KEPT SECRET

BROOKGREEN GARDENS is still providing the entertaining "COOL SUMMER EVENINGS" through August 9, 2013.  If you have not taken in one of these events, please do so before time runs out.  As a resident of Myrtle Beach, I still believe that the Gardens are "a best kept secret" to visitors to our Grand Strand.  Aromatic fragrances from the flowers to the beautiful sculptures on display, all your senses will be touched as you stroll along the garden paths.

This season, the curtain has been rising on a series of exciting and varied offerings and activities.  The gardens remain open until 9:00 pm.  Cruises down the river are available for each evening - Wednesday evenings offer Shakespeare inspired performances in the gardens and Thursdays provide a pirate-themed cruise down the river and family friendly fun at the new Enchanted Storybook Forest.  

Bring a blanket to the Gardens on Friday evenings for "Concerts on the Lawn."

ART & CRAFT FESTIVAL ON THE BEACH

The Myrtle Beach Convention Center will be the location for the upcoming CRAFTSMEN'S CLASSICS ART & CRAFT FESTIVAL.  So mark the dates in your calendar for August 2, 3 and 4 with hours of 10:00 am till 6:00pm on Friday and Saturday and 11:00 am till 5:00 pm on Sunday.

Hundreds of talented artists and craftspeople from across the nation will be exhibiting their wares.  There will be something for every style, taste and budget.  Endless choices will be shown that will include whimsical, contemporary, traditional and functional items.

CONSIGNMENT AT IT'S BEST IN LITTLE RIVER

As I was driving through Little River I was pleasantly surprised as I saw a sign that said LITTLE RIVER MINI MALL CONSIGNMENT.  Well, you know me, I just had to stop and see what I had been missing.  Saying that I was surprised would definitely be an understatement.  Upon opening the door I knew that I had hit CONSIGNMENT heaven.  The village shops have it all - consignment booths from front to back and side to side with modern to vintage flare.

I urge everyone that is a consignment shopper (and I know there are great numbers of you out there) to make an afternoon of it and view all the fantastic items.  Shabby Chic, vintage, antique - whatever you are looking for I guarantee that you will more than likely find it here.  Items range from an authentic Pawleys Island hammock to a beautiful antique picture frame that has been restored to gorgeous Shabby Chic and furniture from all eras.  There are treasured items from the past that will bring back lots of memories.  We Southern gals do love our consignment finds!

The prices are great and the people are definitely full of "SOUTHERN CHARM"!  "Ya'll come back, sit a spell, and bless your little heart" can be heard throughout from  the various vendors.  A bad day can be made better by shopping at the CONSIGNMENT MINI MALL.
