My personal note on GEORGETOWN,SC

I am continually asked about historic areas around the Myrtle Beach area.  The first thought that comes to mind is GEORGETOWN, SC.  As you are traveling on Highway 17 south from Myrtle Beach (for approximately 32 miles - a pleasant drive) you will find a seaport town that sparkles on the waterfront.  Stately historic homes have been restored to their beautiful Southern charm.  You will wander along Front Street and take in the stores, eateries, taverns, museums, antique shops and local handmade artifacts that are on display.  Lamp posts light your way at night as you take a breezy seaport stroll on the waterfront.  This little town that is tucked away from the main highway is nothing short of "history for the senses."  And don't forget the Lowcountry cuisine - your tastebuds are going to thank you for taking the time to dine on many fine selections.
