One of Myrtle Beach's best kept secrets is the beautiful ATALAYA CASTLE at Huntington Beach State Park. This beautiful castle was started in 1931 and was named ATALAYA "meaning a special term for watchtower." The castle was the winter home of industrialist and philanthropist Archer M. Huntington and his wife, the sculptor Anna Hyatt Huntington.
Huntington Beach State Park is located on U.S. 17 South between Murrells Inlet and Litchfield Beach across from Brookgreen Gardens.
